Having started my career in Signage in the ’70s, for a company called Claude Neon which was one of the biggest and oldest around,

Neon was routinely used for internally illuminating Channel Letters. It was common to have 5 to 10 in-house glass benders at a company.

When LED came into the scene about 20 years ago, it slowly displaced neon tubing for internal illumination. Nowadays most Channel letters have LED’s for their internal illumination.

Neon was left to slowly move into one of those obscure art forms until recently when the look and demand for neon because it just looks so cool, started to come back.
