Going back many decades myself in the SIGN industry I remember when neon was the major source of illumination and creative lighting in all signs and display solutions. In fact, they were the mainstays in the sign industry from the 1920s to the 1950s. The neon sign was an important cultural phenomenon in the United States in that era; by 1940, the downtowns of nearly every city in the US were bright with neon signage, and Times Square in New York City was known worldwide for its neon extravagances.
Most sign shops had neon glass benders and designers that would come up with incredible sign designs and applications. Sadly neon had died out in the 90s with the advent and acceptance of LEDs but now we see some revitalization and demand for this creative signage application.
There is still nothing that replaces the brilliant glow of neon lighting as you can see from one of our latest neon projects. It gives a unique character to the sign which reflects positively on the business and the business owner. That is why they are becoming increasingly popular with artists and business owners who want to give their unique flair to their signage. We were recently contracted to create this beautiful neon sign for Major Treat in Toronto.
We are seeing more and more demand for this great art form and are happy to contribute to help this revitalization.
