The opportunity

We recently were awarded a project to redo the signage at 70 Yorkville. Over the years, the existing signage seemed to lose its appeal just from aging and from the lack of graphic control with tenant changes over the years which created a tired cluttered look for this boutique mall.

The challenge

The challenge was to redo the creative so that tenants could have their individual colors and logos but still have a continuous flow and elegant look overall for the mall and to reduce the visual congestion.

Our Solution

We came up with a unique continuous sign band that had a common opaque background color that was neutral so that all the graphics and logos would be highlighted for each tenant. Also, the names and logos would appear as though they would be floating at night with the background color being opaque and the internal light just passing through only the letters.

All the connecting sign boxes were tapered and flared out at the bottom with an open strip to provide downlighting over each tenant space to create a cozy soft feel for window shopping.

Overall the design creates a great new look for this boutique mall in the heart of Yorkville with easily identified tenants and a sophisticated look for the mall.
